Subject: [globalmobster] GFM1 DETAILS! Lets get our story straight. (Message of the Global Mob Project)
OK... Let us get all the ducks in a row so to speak.
First, we all agree... the GFM1 will take place on Oct 25th at 2:15
PM in your local time zone. The allows for all time zones to take
part in order and no one staying up all night to take part.
Second, the Scripts - The idea has always been for each city to do
something unique, yet related to the rest of the mobs. Therefore,
for GFM #1, the two ideas that are out there are 'Greet the World'
and 'Jump for Joy'. Plan your event with whatever script you choose,
but try to incorporate one or both of the ideas in your event.
The Ideas and how they work.
1. Greet The World. the idea is to start your mob by sending a
greeting to the time zone before yours. This could be a simple as
saying "Thank you Eastern Time Zone" or as complex as saying thanks
to any cities identified in the time zone to your east. Example, for
Minneapolis we will say, "Thank you Boston, Washing ton D.C., New
York, City Montreal, Quebec, Orlando, and Ottawa!" or we could say
something as simple as "Thank you!" While facing east at the
beginning of our event. Since most have not updated the database
with their cities, it is difficult to know what cities are involved.
You could just pick on e city to thank as well… In short, greet
someone to the east. In closing of the event, pass the event to the
west with a remark like, "Flash Mob on western cities!'
2. Jump For Joy. This idea involves the simple idea of jumping
for joy in some form… We never stated the details, so be creative and
come up with something.
The rest is up to you! We are not going to force an idea on you.
The original idea was to hold a bunch of Flash Mobs all at the same
time on the same day. Do not make it more complex than it has to be.
Simple is better.
Next, since most of us will have different scripts, don't worry about
people discovering your theme for your event by reading about the
other cities. The public at large is not going to know nor will they
care. The press, however, is another story. We are creating three
scripts for the 25th. The first is our plan A. It is our favorite
idea. The other two, Plan B and Plan C are backups in the event the
press spoils some part of the event. We will pass out the correct
script 15 minutes prior. Once it goes, we are committed to executing
the script. Knowing the theme is not going to hurt, in fact, we hope
it draws more people to the event.
Lastly, take pictures, video, audio, whatever. Share your results
with the group after your event. Post the details to the group and
on your site. We will put together a huge collection of results and
post them on the web for all to see after the event.
After the fact, share your ideas and what you have learned. This is
only event number one and is very loosely organized. We can improve
on the idea for the next event!
